Backyard Birds – Part 14

I always put off cutting into the background of a marquetry piece for as long as possible, because it’s one of the more anxiety-inducing parts of the process for me.

But it’s always rewarding when it’s done, because I finally get to see the foreground objects become the shape that they’re supposed to be. I love pulling the tape off and removing the excess veneer around an image.

Here is a short video of me pulling masking tape off of one of the marquetry sparrows, removing the excess veneer around the outside of the bird, and placing the bird into the background.
